Mostar Bridge

mostar_bridge Five years ago, UNESCO listed the historic town of Mostar, and the bridge spanning the deep valley of the Neretva River, as a World Heritage site.  It’s a better than average place to hang out on a Monday night.

Bridge on the Drina

bridge_on_drina In 1961 the Yugoslav writer Ivo Andrić was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for the novel The Bridge on the Drina.  This bridge in Višegrad, Bosnia is the principle character of the book.  Today the bridge is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Aletsch Glacier, Switzerland

glacier The Aletsch glacier is the largest in the Alps, and is part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn Unesco World Heritage site. I rode the cable car from the village of Fiesch up to the Eggishorn (2926m), where I took this picture.

Creux du Van

creux_du_van_map Today I hiked 14km from Noiraigue through the Creux du Van Reserve to Bevaix.  The Reserve protects the flora and fauna around the cirque – visible on map, lower left.  I’ve posted a few pictures here.
